Rumblings Of The Pre-Gandhi Era:
Association of Landholders:
In 1851, Landholders Society (1837) and Bengal British India Society (1843) were merged to form the British Indian Association.
Bombay Association and Madras Native Association:
These were established in 1852. These sent petitions suggesting changes in EIC's charter to end the company's monopoly of salt and indigo.Associations like Poona Sarvjanik Sabha were established to promote reform and political consciousness.
